At Lanyon we try to be as self sufficient as possible, we have a Silver Green Tourism Award and we are working towards our Gold.
We have our own water supply, deal with our own waste, when collected it is made into bio-solids and spread on the land. We compost our vegetables and other suitable waste. Our plastic bottles, tins and glass are collected and recycled and all paper and cardboard is saved and taken for collection creating funds for the Chapel. We have a ground source heat pump, providing hot water and under floor heating.
We like to help our visitors lessen their impact whilst they are on holiday. We encourage our visitors to shop a locally in our excellent local shop that sells local meat, fish and seasonal vegetables as well as much more. We also strongly advise them to buy Cornish wine on a blind tasting it beat the French! Delicious.
We shall be planting an arboretum and wild garden and allotments in early 2010 and finally, we have applied for permission for a Wind Turbine, this will make us Carbon neutral.
